Carolina’s Jeff Skinner tied the game at one with just over a minute to play. But Ondrej Palat was the hero as he scored unassisted on a breakaway 1:38 into the overtime period.
The ‘Canes outshot the Bolts 28-17. The Lightning were 0-1 on the power play and Carolina was 1-6.
Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy was strong, stopping 27 of 28 shots.

Palat was the number one star as he tallied a goal and an assist, had three shots and was a +2 while on ice for 13:30.
