Ross Tucker of SI says the pressure is on Philip Rivers to produce a championship. I couldn’t agree more. I think this is one of the most underplayed storylines leading into the playoffs. Rivers is an elite quarterback in his sixth season. This is right around the time the Can’t Win the Big One talk began for Peyton Manning (circa 2003-04). Some might throw Drew Brees in this mix as well, but I think the general feeling is that Rivers has had more talent around him. Can you imagine if LT leaves San Diego without a ring?
On a related note: I think you can make a decent comparison between the recent Chargers teams (2006 – 2009) with the almost-but-not-quite Colts teams of 2003, 2004, and 2005.
