Game Notes
- “Golden State has won all 10 matchups against the East by an average of 15.3 points. The Warriors, however, could face some resistance against an Indiana team that allows a league-low 96.1 points per game.
The Pacers (14-22) will try to wrap up their road swing with a 3-1 record after Monday’s 105-101 victory over Utah. They’ve limited opponents to an average of 92.0 points and 28.6 percent 3-point shooting while winning four of six, but allowed the Jazz to make things interesting with 39 points in the fourth quarter.
‘We are learning to finish games with this group,’ center Roy Hibbert said. ‘Last year with Paul (George) and Lance (Stephenson) and those guys, we knew how to win, how to finish out games. We’d been through it all together.'” — Taylor Bechtold, STATS/AP
- “Paul George – Out – Fractured Right Tibia/Fibula
George Hill – Out – Left Groin Strain
Ian Mahinmi – Out – Torn Left Plantar Fascia” — Pacers PR
- “‘I was just horrified. That was as tough as it gets,’ said Kerr, who then talked to Curry and Klay Thompson about whether they wanted to continue to play for Team USA. ‘Both guys were wary of what was ahead of them. But once you sort of sit back and think about it, you realize that that could have happened in a pickup game right here in our gym in September. It was a freak thing that happened, but you can’t stop playing because of it.’
Curry was worried about his twice surgically repaired ankle, and Thompson was entering into contract-extension talks. There were logical reasons to walk away, as Kevin Durant did, but the Warriors’ guards stayed and won a gold medal.
‘It was awful to see,’ said Thompson, who played AAU ball with George when they were 16 in Southern California. ‘He’s a really tough kid, and I know he’s going to come back. It just sucks, because it was in an exhibition game and could have been avoided. But it happened, and it was just gut-wrenching for all of us.'” — Rusty Simmons, San Francisco Chronicle
- “The Warriors say Andrew Bogut (right knee) will play tonight vs. Indiana.” — Simmons (1/7/2015, 6:30PM)
- “Rodney Stuckey (sore right groin) is out for tonight’s game vs. the Warriors.” — Simmons (1/7/2015, 6:01PM)
