Preview of ESPN’s Outside The Lines for 01/11/09

Here’s a release and video preview of a story Outside The Lines will do on Adam Jones and a 2007 shooting that he allegedly arranged in Atlanta. ESPN says the incident is strikingly similar to a shooting in Las Vegas earlier in the year and happened two months after he was suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

New Allegations against Adam “Pacman” Jones

Sunday’s Outside the Lines (ESPN 9 a.m. ET; ESPNEWS noon) will present new information of Adam “Pacman” Jones involvement in a 2007 strip-club dispute that led to a shooting. John Barr’s report includes security-camera video from the suburban Atlanta strip club and allegations that Jones directed a reputed gang member to carry out the shooting. The incident happened as the then-Tennessee Titan cornerback was serving a season-long suspension for his role in a fight and shooting at a Las Vegas strip club four months earlier. Jones, who was cut by the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, has been suspended three times during his NFL career because of an accumulation of arrests and other legal issues. After the Las Vegas shooting, the NFL had warned Jones that any future incidents could mean the end of his career. Through video and exclusive jailhouse interviews, the OTL report shows how the Atlanta-area strip-club dispute would end in a strikingly similar way to that Las Vegas night and will call into question the story Jones told police about an extortion plot and threats to his life that followed the Las Vegas shooting.

Should be quite the interesting story. For his part, Jones says he plans to take legal action against ESPN for the report.
