This is a clip of a story that ESPN’s Outside The Lines will run this Sunday. If you saw HBO’s Real Sports on Tuesday, this is a story that Mary Carillo wanted to do, but for some reason, could not. Instead, ESPN has gotten access to Elena Delle Donne who walked away from a basketball scholarship from UConn in August and then walked on to the Delaware volleyball team and made an immediate impact.
Multi-Platform Report of Elena Delle Donne’s Leaving UConn & Quitting Basketball
Delle Donne, a 6-foot-4 guard whose skills had earned her the nickname the “Female LeBron,” tells reporter Mark Schwarz that she “couldn’t stand” basketball since she was 13. The Delaware native left UConn, where she had committed, and returned home to the University of Delaware where she began playing volleyball, and made the conference All-Rookie team.
Here’s a preview of what you’ll see on Sunday.
I look forward to watching this.
