The Oakland Raiders are happy with the potential they’ve seen from their second-round pick in 2014, franchise quarterback Derek Carr. The Fresno State quarterback threw for 3,270 yards with 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while just completed under 60% of his passes.
The season did not go as well for their ex-head coach, Dennis Allen. Allen was fired following an 0–4 start, and compiled an 8–28 record in his two plus seasons in Oakland. Offensive line coach Tony Sparano was named interim head coach. After 16 straight losses dating back to 2013 that included an 0–10 start in 2014, the Raiders won 24-20 against the Kansas City Chiefs in week 12. The Raiders continued to win two more games against the San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills.
The Raiders hope their success at the end of 2014 spills into the 2015 season. Aside from their six division games with the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers, the rest of the 2015 schedule is as follows:
HOME
Baltimore, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Minnesota, New York Jets. The Raiders matchup with the AFC North this season, which had three playoff teams in the 2014 season in Baltimore, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
AWAY
Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Detroit, Tennessee. The Raiders NFC counterpart in 2015 is the NFC North, which had Green Bay and Detroit as 2014 postseason participants.
The fans of the Black Hole can find help supporting the Raiders at home or on the road using Hipmunk.com. There are flights to Oakland that could be found by reviewing their fantastic guide on all airline activity in and out of the city. Oakland hotels at Hipmunk typically have rates for as low as $109 on Saturday or Sunday night, so you’d be able to stay the night before or night of any game for a little north of one hundred bucks.
The Raiders went out and hired Jack Del Rio as their new head coach so they are hoping 2015 will provide a fresh start for a team that has been in a decade long slump. Del Rio’s time in Denver hopefully provided some helpful information on how to beat the reigning AFC West champs, a feat Oakland will need to do if they want to be considered one of the top teams in the AFC.
