After already defeating the Detroit Lions 26-16 in week two of the 2015-16 NFL season the Vikings will look for a repeat performance in week 7, this time on the road. Below is everything you need to know about the final scheduled game between these two teams in 2015.
Adrian Peterson Listed as Questionable
Don’t panic, Vikings fans. Despite being downgraded to questionable by the team on Saturday due to an undisclosed illness, plenty of media reports say “All Day” will be suited up on Sunday and playing. ESPN’s Ben Goessling tweeted that “Those we know Adrian Peterson well have little doubt he’ll play tomorrow.”
Stefon Diggs to Start
Goessling also tweeted that he has been told rookie Stefon Diggs will get the start over Charles Johnson at the second wide receiver spot. Diggs’ has 126 yards receiving in the two games he has been active this season so look for Teddy Bridewater to target him early and often on Sunday.
Vikings Have Road Woes
Minnesota have lost 15 of their last 17 games on the road. Minnesota will need to rectify that stat moving forward to have a truly successful season. That starts with Sunday’s contest where the Vikings have a chance to win their first road game of the season after falling to San Francisco and Denver earlier this year.
Blair Walsh Back in Rhythm?
After struggling early in the season, Walsh was 3 of 3 last week against Kansas City and will be kicking in a dome on Sunday with a chance to truly get his season back on the right track. Most Vikings fans will want to see Walsh hit a clutch field goal before dropping all skepticism but the conditions and trends are both in Walsh’s favor heading into Sunday’s NFC matchup.
Lions looking for Back-To-Back Wins
The Motor City Kitties picked up their first victory of the season last week against the equally lowly Chicago Bears. While it doesn’t seem the Lions are ready to rattle off twelve straight, winning does breed winning so the Vikings will have to be on the lookout for a tougher matchup than they may expect on paper.

Game Preview: Sarita Kelly
The Minnesota Vikings (3-2) are looking to take their winning ways on the road against a weak Detroit Lions (1-4).
While the Vikings have struggled with wins on the road, the Lions have struggled all season. But a recent win in overtime against their NFC North rival Chicago Bears, 37-34, may be the jumpstart the Lions need.
While RB Adrian Peterson is 2nd in the NFL with 86.4 rushing yards per game and has 3 TDs, he might not see Ford Field on Sunday. It was reported on Saturday that Peterson was downgraded to questionable for the game because of an illness. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to a finger injury that happened last week in the win over Kansas City. But multiple sources have said that this will not stop him from playing.
An exciting matchup to watch will be Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes and Lions WR Calvin Johnson: When Rhodes and Johnson last met in the week two win for the Vikings at TCF Bank Stadium; Rhodes covered eight of Johnson’s 10 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. The only problem Rhodes will have is his league high eight penalties. If Rhodes can keep his aggressiveness in check, he can contain Johnson.
But the biggest surprise story of this season has been WR Stefon Diggs. Diggs has only played two games this season; but the two games he has played have been big. He had 6 catches for 87 yards at Denver and 7 catches for 129 yards vs. Kansas City. Diggs made his 1st career start in Week 6 vs. Kansas City and was the 1st Viking to surpass the 100-yard receiving mark this season. In addition to the already great roll Diggs is on, he has been named Pepsi’s Rookie of the Week for his game against the Chiefs
