My how the tune has changed for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in their latest three game span. After winning five games in a row, including knocking off Duke at home on January 28th, the Fighting Irish have lost two of their last three, including getting blown out this past Saturday.
Duke exacted their revenge in defeating the Irish by 30 points, giving Notre Dame their worst loss since 1999 under Head Coach Mike Brey. Two games prior, the Irish lost to Pittsburgh by four, who aren’t on pace to make the NCAA tournament.
But Notre Dame (21-4, 9-3) has still won six of their last eight and is ranked 10th nationally, the same ranking they have in scoring, averaging 80 points per game. Notre Dame is in good shape to finish ACC play, with six games remaining and only one against a ranked opponent against Louisville on March 4th.
Notre Dame is currently second in the ACC, trailing Virginia by one game. Virginia just lost starting guard Justin Anderson for four-to-six weeks due to a fractured finger. A regular season crown is in play if Virginia can’t survive the last leg of ACC play without Anderson.
Notre Dame has only one game this week of February 9th, when they take on Clemson on the road on Tuesday night.
The average ticket price on the secondary market is currently $116 for Notre Dame vs. Clemson basketball tickets. For students, alumni, and fans looking to support their team on the road, Hipmunk.com has many different travel arrangements available, including flights from South Bend.
Hotels in neighboring Greenville are available from Hipmunk, and they are probably the cheapest option on the market. Greenville hotels have rates starting at $69, with more than half a dozen options for less than $100 per night. And you can fly into Greenville as well, so you could limit your trip to only the greater Greenville/Clemson area.
The Irish have a rematch with the Clemson Tigers on March 7th, their last regular season ACC game at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana. Besides the game against Louisville, Notre Dame has a decent chance of winning out the rest of their ACC games.
