Price Pitches Complete Game in Sox Loss

The Red Sox got their 1.5 game lead back in the game and needed to keep winning to not have the Rays have a chance to leave the series leading the AL East.  Felix Doubront was taking the mound for the Sox against David Price for the Rays.  Doubront had one bad inning, but still had a nice ouitng however Price had a stellar outing on his way to a win.

Doubront and Price both put up zeroes until the 3rd inning when Doubront had himself a hiccup outing.  Jennings got on with a single on a ball that seemed like it should have been caught by Gomes.  Jennings got to 2nd on a throwing error by Dubi and then Jennings and Longo came home with a bloop RBI hit by Myers.  The Rays got their 3rd run of the inning when Scott hit an RBI sac fly.  Sox 0-3.  After that inning, Doubront settled right back down and kept on pitching, but the damage was done.  Doubront pitched into the 7th inning, but was still looking down the barrel of a loss.  Dubi's line for the night was 104 pitches, 6.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BB and 5 Ks.  Pedro Beato came out in the 7th and got the final out of the inning.

The Sox offense finally got on the board in the bottom of the 7th when Napoli continued the little offensive tear he has been on by hitting a solo HR.  Sox 1-3.  Beato got an out and gave up a single in the 8th and then Thornton came into the game.  Thornton has spent more time struggling than anything else since leaving the White Sox for the Red Sox.  Thornton gave up 2 runs in the inning to basically put the game away.  Thornton gave up RBI singles to both Loney and Molina.  Sox 1-5.  David Price finished what he started and pitched a complete game on the way to his 5th win of the season.
