Pride Brews-ed as Cards sweep at Miller Park

I called in sick today for my job…I suppose a few co-workers might think I played hooky to catch the Brewers afternoon game…of course, after seeing the score, they truly knew that I became sick if I hadn’t been already (I actually was/am under the weather…even before checking the box score). Cards took Thursday’s game, 8-0. Offense mustered just 4 hits on the afternoon, 2 by recently called up outfielder Gabe Gross (hey, have you noticed that sending players to Nashville makes them better when they return?). Dave Bush pitched well, only giving up 3 ER is 7 IP; Derrick Turnbow came into the game in the 9th with the Crew down only 3-0, but could only get 1 out while giving up 5 more runs. The Cardinals have cut the gap between them and the Crew to just 2½ games (but 4 in the win column…which means just 1 in the loss column, as the Brewers have played 3 more games than the Cardinals). Next up: the Reds…best news–Cubs and Cards face each other next, so one of the teams behind the Brewers will have to add some losses.
