The second half of the Major League Baseball season is in full swing and the most prominent big leaguer from Florida State is furthering his case for National League MVP.
San Francisco Giants’ catcher Buster Posey is the Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of July 20th through the 26th after hitting .500 in five games this week.
Posey hit in four of the Giants’ five games this week and had multiple hits in three of them. Posey was a perfect 4-for-4 in Sunday’s 4-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics with a double and a run scored. During the week, Posey scored four runs and drove in four more.
For the season, Posey ranks third in the National League with a .328 batting average and 67 RBIs. Posey’s 14 home runs are tied for tops among N.L. catchers.

Brooks Koepka shot -10 under to finish tied for 10th at The Open which concluded last Monday. He followed that up by shooting -10 and finishing tied for 18th at the RBC Canadian Open over the weekend.
Devon Travis, 2B Toronto Blue Jays (MLB)
In six games this week for the Toronto Blue Jays, Devon Travis hit .313, going 5-for-16 with two runs scored and a RBI. Two of Travis’ five hits were doubles.
Luke Weaver, P (Minor Leagues)
Pitching for the Class-A Advanced Palm Beach Cardinals, Luke Weaver earned the win on Friday night in a 2-1 victory over the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Weaver tossed six innings, allowing just a run on six hits without surrendering a walk. Weaver struck out eight in the victory.
