The 2015 NFL season is more than a month old and one of the league’s most pleasant surprises is a former Florida State running back. This player not only is making a case for Most Improved Player, but MVP early on.
Atlanta Falcons’ running back Devonta Freeman is the Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the third straight week. Freeman earns the honors for the week of October 5th through the 11th for his performance in a 25-19 overtime victory over the Washington Redskins.
Freeman accounted for 197 yards of offense Sunday, including 153 yards rushing on 27 carries. Freeman also caught seven passes for 44 yards in the victory. His 7-yard touchdown run with 24 seconds to play put Atlanta ahead 19-16.
Five games into his second season, Freeman has 645 yards from scrimmage and a league-high eight total touchdowns. Freeman is also a big reason the Falcons are off to a 5-0 start.
