The Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of September 15th through the 21st goes to one of the heroes from last season’s BCS National Championship. Though the game didn’t result in a victory on Sunday, rookie wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin shined in just his third career NFL game.
In a 37-19 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers’ wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin finished with eight catches for a game-high 115 yards and a touchdown.
At 6’5″ and 240 pounds, the transition to the NFL level has been little trouble so far for Benjamin. In three games, Benjamin has 16 receptions for 253 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Benjamin leads the Panthers in receiving yards.
While Sunday’s contest with Pittsburgh didn’t result in a victory, Carolina is 2-1 on the season. Benjamin and the Panthers will now head to Baltimore to face the Ravens next Sunday.
