It was a solid week for former Florida State standouts now playing professionally. Buster Posey won his third World Series for the San Francisco Giants while Anquan Boldin and Antonio Cromartie each had big games, but the Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of October 27th through November 2nd goes to linebacker Lawrence Timmons of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In a 43-23 win over the Baltimore Ravens Sunday night, Timmons was all over the field, finishing with 11 tackles and a sack as the Steelers overtook the Ravens in the AFC North.
With the 11 stops, Timmons now has 78 tackles on the season which not only leads the Steelers, but ranks fifth in the entire NFL. Seven of Timmons’ 11 tackles on Sunday were solo stops.
After a stellar start, the former Florida State linebacker may be on his way to a first Pro Bowl appearance as Timmons has become a staple for the vaunted Pittsburgh defense. At 6-3, Timmons and the Steelers get set to hit the road to face the New York Jets on Sunday.
