It was one of the more quiet weeks for former Florida State stars playing professional sports, particularly with center Bryan Stork and linebacker Bjoern Werner being inactive for Sunday’s AFC Championship. While Stork will be the only former ‘Nole playing in the Super Bowl, one former Florida State player performed well in a NFC Championship loss.
Green Bay Packers’ defensive tackle Letroy Guion is the Professio”Nole” Athlete for the Week for the week of January 12th through the 18th. His team let a 19-7 lead with just over two minutes slip away in a 28-22 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship, but Guion was productive.
Guion recorded four tackles, two solo, and a half sack in Sunday’s defeat as the Packers watched a potential trip to the Super Bowl fall by the wayside. His half sack came in overtime to put Seattle in a long third down situation, but the Seahawks converted and eventually found the end zone.
After five years in Minnesota, Guion enjoyed the best season of his career in 2014, recording a career-high 32 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
