The top professional athlete from Florida State for the week of May 12th through May 18th comes on the hardwood and goes to a player whose professional career is just two games old.

After becoming the highest WNBA draft pick ever from Florida State last month, forward Natasha Howard hit the ground running this week for the Indiana Fever. Though the Fever are off to an 0-2 start, Howard is shaping up to be a franchise player.

In her WNBA debut on Friday night, Howard recorded a double-double, going for 16 points and 10 rebounds in a 74-71 loss to the Chicago Sky. The next night in a 90-88 loss to the Atlanta Dream, Howard went for 21 points on 10-for-13 shooting. Howard also grabbed six boards in the loss.

Howard has led the Fever in scoring in each of her first two regular season games and is averaging 18.5 points and eight boards per contest thus far. Howard and Indiana will be back in action at home on Friday night against the Washington Mystics.
