With only two months remaining in the Major League Baseball regular season, the pennant races are starting to heat up. This week, a former Florida State player, who has struggled at the plate for most of the season, made a big impact for a first place team.

The Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of July 27th through August 2nd is New York Yankees’ second baseman Stephen Drew.

In six games this week for the Yankees, Drew hit .375, going 6-for-16 with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored. In a 12-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, Drew was a home run short of the cycle as he finished the day 3-for-5.

Drew’s batting average for the season is still below .200, but Drew has supplied some power this season. His 13 home runs for the year is second among American League second basemen.
