While Florida State suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday night, a number of former Seminoles had a week to a remember in the National Football League. In London on Sunday, one former FSU defensive standout scored his first career touchdown to help his team earn a victory.
Jacksonville Jaguars’ linebacker Telvin Smith is the Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of October 19th through the 25th for his performance in a 34-31 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Smith finished with nine tackles, including eight solo stops and two for loss in the victory at Wembley Stadium, but the biggest play he made was in pass coverage. With Jacksonville leading 14-3 in the second quarter, Smith intercepted Buffalo quarterback and former FSU teammate E.J. Manuel and returned it 26 yards for his first NFL touchdown. The interception was one of three passes defended by Smith on Sunday.
After being drafted in the fifth round in 2014, Smith has made a huge impact for the Jaguars. He ranks third in the NFL this season with 68 total tackles.

In a 23-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Pittsburgh Steelers’ linebacker Lawrence Timmons finished with a game-high 10 total tackles, including seven solo stops and half a sack.
Jameis Winston, QB Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL)
In a heartbreaking 31-30 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Jameis Winston went 21-for-29 passing for 297 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Winston rushed once for five yards.
