Pronger to work for NHL, stay on Flyers’ LTIR

Chris Pronger has been hired by the NHL according to reports. Pronger, 39 has been hired to replace Brian Leetch in the player safety department of the NHL’s front offices.

Yahoo’s Nick Costonika first reported the rumors on Wednesday that Pronger was Stephane Quintal’s, the senior VP of player safety, first choice and was interviewed for the position.

Pronger’s cap hit of $4.94 million was a problem that was arose from the potential hiring of Pronger by the NHL but according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Pronger will indeed remain on the Flyers’ Long-term Injury Reserve list.

Pronger has been on the list since suffering an eye injury just 13 games into the 2011-12 season. Pronger suffered from post-concussion system for the past few years, almost three years since his injury.
