What everyone is talking about
There were two games of the variety that can stir a lot of emotion for the hockey fan community: There was a game between two teams struggling and striving for the top spot in their division. In this case, the Blackhawks unseated the surprising Predators. (ESPN, Sports Illustrated) And then there was a game between two Canadian teams. In case you were wondering, that’s why everything in Canada closed at 7pmET last night. (SportsNet, TSN)
Scoreboard
San Jose 3, Calgary 2 – Fun fact: Sports Illustrated’s scoreboard doesn’t indicate whether a game went to OT or a SO, giving the impression that all games are always solved in regulation, and some games aren’t solved in an impossibly stupid way. Anyways, as luck would have it, all games WERE finished in regulation last night. Some trick, given that there were 12 games.
Boston 5, Arizona 2 – The obligatory game of the night that makes you take a step back and say “Oh yeah, both of these teams are in the same league”.
Detroit 3, New York Rangers 2 – The Rangers jumped to a 2-0 lead early, but were beaten back in the final two periods.
Washington 4, New Jersey 1 – Of goal scorers in this game, Jay Beagle has the most on the season.
Chicago 3, Nashville 1 – As if to rub it in the Preds’ faces, Chicago even started Scott Darling in goal.
Dallas 4, Montreal 1 – I initially read MON as MIN and was aghast that the Wild lost and that I had no idea they were playing last night.
Toronto 5, Vancouver 2 – The thing about Canadian teams is that none of them have ever made any sense.
Columbus 3, Tampa Bay 1 – On Twitter, Loser Domi called them “Columbutt” and that’s funny.
Florida 3, Buffalo 2 – We saw a tweet about this game last night. The Confederacy Panthers won narrowly.
Philadelphia 2, Los Angeles 1 – The Flyers weekend visitation of Mike Richards and Jeff Carter was this weekend, I guess.
Pittsburgh 3, Ottawa 2 – In order to get their names on the Cup again, the Pens acquired Rob Klinkhammer. I just wanted you to imagine someone engraving the Cup with Rob Klinkhammer’s name.
St Louis 6, New York Islanders 4 – This isn’t as bad as it looks for Marty Brodeur. He came on in relief and didn’t give up all 4 goals.
