Heck, Bench even got his dogs to help spread the word, complete with Penn State window decal in the background…
Bench made the decision to transfer following a conversation with Penn State's Bill O'Brien led him to the conclusion that competing for a starting job in the fall in State College was not likely to happen. O'Brien has said that he expects JUCO transfer Tyler Ferguson and incoming freshman Christian Hackenberg to see equal reps in summer camp leading in to the 2013 season. Bench played very sparingly last season, filling in for an injured Matt McGloin for just a handful of snaps against Virginia. He heads to South Florida with three years of eligibility and four years to use them. He is available to play immediately under the NCAA's sanction terms allowing Penn State players a free transfer.
