“The report of my death was an exaggeration.”*

Most of Red Sox Nation were fearing this match-up with the Angels. They were crying that the sky is falling! Dischord abounds in the clubhouse! The season is lost already!

Clay Buchholz would have none of that as he pitched admirably in 5.2 innings, leaving the game with a 7-4 lead. That’s when the Sox bats exploded scoring 10 more runs in the 6th and 7th innings. Manny and Ram-1 shut down the Angels over 2.1 innings, not allowing a man on base, and doing it on only 24 pitches between the two of them. Schoeneweis got the call for mop up duty in inning number 9, and promptly coughed up 4 moot point runs.

All of the Sox starters had multi-hit games tonight except for Pedroia. That’s OK as his one hit was a 3 run homer. J.D. Drew went 4/5, knocking in 3 and scoring 2. Mike Lowell had a 4/4 night, including 3 doubles as he knocked in 4 and scored 2 times.

While the ship may have been listing badly, it appears to be righting itself. File this one under morale and confidence boosters.

Red Sox- 17, Angels 8 BOX SCORE
