Interesting news from Bud Withers last night, but it sounds like WSU has been talking to the Ducks about playing in Qwest Field, as soon as next season. Oregon likes the idea, and why wouldn’t they? They would probably bring at LEAST 20K green-n-gold fans to Qwest, ready to be loud and obnoxious. The payoff could be nice for both sides, depending on how the deal is struck with First-n-Goal.
Let’s face it. The Seattle game has hit the wall/jumped the shark/reached “meh” status, hasn’t it? It might be a cool idea to spice it up with a PAC-10/NW rival….as long as it’s not the Apple Cup anyway.
We also heard whispers that there was talk WSU had approached Oregon State about this very idea, and to be honest, I kind of like that idea better. Have the “state” schools play each other, where we have something in common (a STRONG dislike for the other schools in our own state). We are generally cool with Oregon State, and it could be a hell of a good time. But make the Ducks uncomfortable going to Pullman! I guess the question to Husky fans, if Oregon and WSU played in Seattle? Who do you root for, Saddam or Osama? You’re happy one goes down, but sad the other one won. Oh well, deal with it.
Other stuff: Good report from the Spokesman after practice last night, and a look at the differences between SMU and Hawaii’s run-n-shoot….Cougfan with a premium article on the lack of depth at WR….also from Cougfan, another verbal commit, safety Tyrone Duckett from Alameda, CA. He’s an unranked, 1-star guy in that he hasn’t been evaluated, but he chose WSU over Fresno State, Oregon, and UCLA among others.
All for now. GO COUGS!
