The NFL Draft has come and gone, and left many of the Philly hopeful wondering did their birds do enough? Yes! The Eagles traded up from 8 to number 2 and drafted who they hope is the future and will be under center for years to come. The birds also solidified their defensive backfield and offensive line while basically standing pat at the wide outs position.

By far and away, the biggest and most important draft pick was North Dakota State stand out, Carson Wentz, whom the Eagles selected with the 2nd overall pick. Wentz is the future and should be taking the reins in the next few seasons.

The Eagles plucked O-line prospects from both TCU and Oregon State, the latter being Isaac Seumalo. Seumalo is versatile, tough, smart and a decent athlete. Although he’s played at tackle, he’s probably best suited to play on the inside. And standing at 6’4″ 303 lbs he’s the perfect size for Coach Doug Pederson’s run heavy offense.

Finally, in the late rounds the Bird’s added Blake Countess and Jalen Mills, from Auburn and LSU, respectively to bolster a secondary that gave up the third most yards in the entire league last season. Overall, it
seems the Eagles went for need and not necessarily best player available which is a strategy that may or may not pan out.
