Not a ton of jokes that can be made here, but the Vikings have officially put former defensive end Kenechi Udeze on the retired list, ending his football career. It was after the 2007 season that he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and sat out all of 2008 in order to receive a bone marrow transplant from his brother. He fought through it, came out on top, and was actually thinking about trying to play football in 2009, one year later, which just blows my mind. I end up with a tiny hangover and I’m whimpering like a school girled bitch, and this guy wanted to go back out after leukemia and try to play them most dangerous game in the world. And he almost made it too, having gone through workout this spring with the Vikings and had everyone convinced, including himself, that he was on the right track to make it back. It didn’t work out, but not for his lack of trying. Sorry it had to end this way, but we’re glad he’s doing alright and refocusing on his life.
Oh, and naturally this move also brings the required roster amount back down to 80 for training camp, so it won’t be until Harvin signs that you’ll see someone else get booted from Mankato.
