Reggie Wayne doesn’t often merit inclusion in the Andre Johnson-Larry Fitzgerald “Best Receiver In The NFL” arguments, mainly because it’s easy to chalk up his success to Peyton Manning. He deserves better. Of course, he benefits from getting passes from Manning, just like Johnson gets throws from the criminally underrated Matt Schaub, and Fitzgerald is the recipient of passes from Kurt Warner. Wayne also makes the crucial sight adjustments to his routes that Manning needs to succeed without making throws that look stupid in the process (see his fourth-quarter pick). Maybe Fitzgerald or Johnson would be just as good in the same role. On the other hand, maybe Wayne would be just as good in theirs. |
