After the San Diego Chargers defeated the Denver Broncos 27-20 on Thursday Night Football, the race for the sixth seed in the AFC playoffs have just got closer.

The San Diego Chargers are now 7-7, while the Baltimore Ravens, the current holders of the sixth seed are 7-6 and the Miami Dolphins are 7-6.

Out of these three teams, the Chargers and Dolphins are playing good. The Dolphins last week got a huge win in Pittsburgh versus the Steelers, while the Ravens had to get a last second touchdown to beat the Minnesota Vikings at home.

In terms of the San Diego Chargers, their last two games of the season are against the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. Both of those games will be at home. Hypothetically speaking let’s just say the Chargers split those two games, which means they would end the season 8-8.

Next, the Miami Dolphins have the New England Patriots this Sunday at home, then at Buffalo Week 16, then home against the New York Jets in Week 17. Let’s just say the Dolphins beat Brady and Pats this Sunday and then win out, it would make Miami 10-6. What can I say? You have to like the way the Dolphins are playing.

Finally, the defending Super Bowl champs, the Baltimore Ravens this week have the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football, then the Patriots Week 16, and finally the Bengals in Cincinnati Week 17. Again hypothetically speaking let’s just say the Ravens lose to the Lions on Monday Night Football, thanks Matt Elam. Then lose to the Pats in Week 16 because Brady will be heated after losing to Tannehill, making the Ravens 7-8 on the season. Finally, in Week 17 beating Cincinnati giving them an 8-8 record.

So just by running this scenario, the Miami Dolphins will win the sixth seed but watch out for the San Diego Chargers because they could with both games at home putting pressure on Baltimore to win out.

The playoff race for the sixth seed in the AFC should be a fun one. But what do you think? Who do you think wins the sixth seed in the AFC playoffs? Put your answer in comments section below.
