Raider 2010 Mock Draft Database

This time of year, mock drafts are all the rage. Just about everyone has their own idea (or someone elses idea they are passing off as their own) as to who they think their respective team will draft.

I got curious as to who the consensus thinks the Raiders will draft in the first round. And here is a list of what I found.

You may notice that quite a few of these fellas predict the Raiders will select offensive tackle Bruce Campbell– 15 to be exact. My guess is this is some combination of those folks that simply look at Mel Kiper’s mock draft and do a copy and paste job and those that follow the same logic he followed when he predicted it. That logic that the Raiders need an offensive tackl combined with the well worn theory that Al Davis will simply pick the best athlete. Bruce Campbell was a combine stud so OF COURSE Al Davis will take him right? Except what these wannabe gurus don’t understand is that despite Al Davis’ longstanding love affair with speed, that affair doesn’t apply at a position such as offensive tackle. Speed is the primary factor to Al in DB, RB, and WR. And that is it. Perhaps if they did some ACTUAL research instead of just plugging in the fastest guy at the Raiders position of need, whatever need that might be. At least it isn’t like the USA Today draft guide which has the Raiders choosing DE Carlos Dunlap in the first round and WR Mike Williams later in the draft simply because both have character concerns. Because, while Al certainly still has a need for speed, the idea that he will draft problem children with physical talent went out of style about the time video killed the radio star. And yet the NFL’s new bad boy collectors such as the Bengals, Cowboys and Broncos, get no such stereotypes placed on them. And they say Raider fans are stuck in the past.

I am not even sure I want to respond the retard who thinks the Raiders will draft Taylor Mays (but I am anyway). So let’s move on.

There were 6 mock drafts that have the Raiders choosing OT Anthony Davis. That choice makes much more sense. It would also seem to require some semblance of independent thought by those who put it together.

There are 4 different mocks that have the Raiders taking a defensive end. They were split evenly between Derrick Morgan and Jason Pierre-Paul. I can only assume that with the Raiders acquistion of Kamerion Wimbley, those mocks would change with an update…probably to Bruce Campbell.
Overall, the majority are predicting the Raiders take an OT with their first pick. Although, I admire those outside thinkers who predict the Raiders will select DT Gerald McCoy (if by some miracle he fell to the Raider at #8) DT Brian Price and LB Rolando McClain (who is also the player I have the Raiders taking in the TFDS Mock Draft). Afterall, anyone who says “there is NO CHANCE so-and-so falls that far” must have never watched a draft before because you can always expect the unexpected.
