To pour salt in the wound remaining from the loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, defensive back Mike Brown was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Brown had two interceptions, including the one that derailed the Raiders last drive.
Both of Brown’s interceptions came on balls that bounced off the hands of Raider receivers. The first one was a ball that was off of Johnnie Lee Higgins hands and Brown was able to bring it in derailing a rive at midfield. His second interception was off of Darrius Heyward-Bey’s juggling act in the closing seconds of the game.
Brown was opportunistic and got rewarded for being in the right place at the right time. However, he did make the play, which was something the Raiders could not do on a fumble. Perhaps, Brown should send a thank you card to both of the Raiders three name receivers.
