Former Bronco outside linebacker Jarvis Moss has announced via his Twitter page that he is now an Oakland Raider.

Moss wrote: “So it’s official! I’m an Oakland Raider! God is good thank him!”

Moss was a first round pick of the Broncos in 2007 out of University of Florida. The former first team All American at defensive end for the 2006 National Champion Gators.

The Raiders are in a sudden need for a defensive end with Trevor Scott out with a season-ending ACL tear. Moss seems worth taking a flier on. He never really fit well in the 3-4 scheme they played in Denver although his experience in should help him when the Raiders ask him to drop into coverage on occasion.

He was drafted as a defensive end and played there for his first two seasons. In his first NFL season, he played in six games before suffering a broken shin that ended his rookie campaign. His second season, he played in 12 games. Over those 18 games, he amassed 24 tackles and 3.5 sacks. But prior to his 3rd season, Mike Shanahan was fired along with his staff.

Enter new head coach Josh McDaniels and new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. Moss was moved from defensive end to outside linebacker and since then he has struggled considerably. He never adjusted to the change in position and has had just 16 tackles with zero sacks in a season and a half. He was thought to be the most likely replacement for Elvis Dumervil at defensive end when he suffered a season ending injury this offseason, but that never materialized.

With Moss looking like he didn’t fit with this Bronco team, many predicted he might not even make the regular season roster this season. He made the roster but it lasted just half the season as the Broncos finally cut their losses and waived him last week. He cleared waivers and the Raiders have apparently snatched him up.

The Raiders have not officially announced the move.
