Raiders back to their award winning ways

Raiders back to their award winning ways
In the NFL, winning begets winning. So it makes sense that as soon as the Raiders get back to winning football games, they begin winning awards again. This week it was Michael Bush who took home some hardware as he was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

The Raiders beat the Chargers last Sunday and a big reason they were able to do so was their ability to run the football. Michael Bush was handed the ball 30 times in that game and ran for 157 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

Bush was also thrown to four times and caught three passes for 85 yards. The Raiders had 62 plays from scrimmage and 34 of them went to Michael Bush for a total of 242 yards. That is half the total yards on the day (490) and more than half the plays from scrimmage all going to Bush.

In the three games since Darren McFadden went down with an ankle sprain, Bush has run for 99, 96, and 157 yards and has averaged 5.4 yards per carry. He has also scored a touchdown in each of the last two games.

When the Raiders were playing well, they earned six player of the week honors in the first six weeks plus one player of the month by Sebastian Janikowki.
