The Raiders made their first signing of the new year, extending safety Charles Woodson’s contract for another season, the team announced.
Charles is coming off a strong season that found him playing in the box and utilizing his ability to read plays and make tackles in the box instead of trying to utilize him as a traditional sideline-to-sideline free safety.
The team had previously expressed interest in bringing back Woodson, as long as he felt he well enough to return. Clearly, this was the case.
The Raiders are due to get Tyvon Branch back from injury in 2015 but he may end up being a cap casualty as his cap number is close to 10 million dollars and his play has not merited the amount in his previous contract extension and he has not been able to be healthy consistently.
