The Raiders released wide receiver and return man Nick Miller today. The move has been expected for a few weeks now as Miller had lost his punt return job to Denarius Moore and wasn’t a factor in an already crowded receiving corps. He was cut to make room for the team to sign safety Ron Parker to the active roster.
Parker was brought in earlier this week for a workout and was immediately signed to the practice squad. To make room, the team cut cornerback Sterling Moore from the practice squad.
Parker was a small school stud from Newberry College who was in Seahawks camp as an undrafted free agent. He is, of course, extremely fast. His 40 yard dash times were a reported 4.28 and 4.35.
Miller had been utilized this week as the stand-in Wes Welker to help the team prepare for the Patriots’ All Pro receiver this Sunday. It appears that was all the team needed him for and with practices over for the week, he was let go.
