The Oakland Raiders made their first move of the uncapped era by resigning a familiar face. The Raiders resigned offensive tackle Khalif Barnes to a one year deal according to David White of the SF Chronicle.
Barnes had been signed by the Raiders during the 2009 offseason and had been expected to compete with Mario Henderson at left tackle with the loser going to right tackle. However, Barnes was injured early in training camp so the competition never materialized.
Barnes started two games at right tackle in weeks seven and eight, and was disappointing in his performance. Following the two starts, he was inactive for the remaining eight games.
This move is unusual in that Barnes had been a restricted free agent, and the Raiders could have kept his services with a tender.
