The Raiders have signed former Redskin running back, Rock Cartwright. This according to CSN Washington. It is said to be a one-year deal.
Cartwright was a seventh-round draft pick of the Redskins in 2002. He played in 123 games, primarily on special teams, and was named captain of that unit last season.
He does his best work is in the return game where he has racked up 5055 yards and a touchdown off kick returns over the last four seasons. He averaged 24.5 yards per return over that span as well.
As a reserve running back, he has rushed for 889 yards and 6 TDs in his 7 year career on 215 carries. His best rushing season came in 2003 when he started 3 games and rushed for 411 yards. His career yards per carry is a respectible 4.1. He started two games last season and gained 228 yards on 64 attempts.
He will compete to make the team as a return specialist as well as the third string running back behind Michael Bush and Darren McFadden.
