Raiders Tickets Below Average For Series Opener Vs Jets

The New York Jets and Oakland Raiders clash in Week 1 to get the 2014 NFL season started, and both teams could put up a reason to exceed preseason expectations. This game also happens to be a solid value for fans from both sides, as the average price for Jets vs Raiders tickets is just $183.56 and the get-in is listed at just $53. Despite being a season opener, the game is 5% below the season average for home games on the Jets schedule. While it’s not the most enticing battle of the week, it does have the potential to be a close game and return value for Raiders and Jets fans.

New York enters 2014 with quarterback Geno Smith more confident in his second season, and after adding the likes of Chris Johnson and Eric Decker to spice up interest in Jets tickets, Gang Green just might pack a serious punch on offense. It’s oddly defense that is somewhat worrisome now, as the Jets will be without starting corner Dee Milliner in this one and have weak depth in their secondary, overall.

On the Oakland side of things, rookie passer Derek Carr will get his first ever start against New York’s nasty front line. He does have a slight advantage with New York’s secondary being banged up, but he may need Maurice Jones-Drew to be productive to help keep the Jets’ defense honest. Regardless of whether or not Oakland comes out on top, Carr’s mere presence offers optimism and should help improve the value of Raiders tickets moving forward.

On paper, this is New York’s game to lose. Jets head coach Rex Ryan has had over a week to gameplan against a rookie quarterback and his offense should be good enough to match anything Carr can put up, either way. Ultimately, the Jets should enter as the favorites and have a good chance at kicking off 2014 with a 1-0 mark.
