I said somewhere to someone that the Celtics can withstand losing KG better than they can withstand losing Rajon Rondo… and I stick by that comment.
So watching Rondo get carried off at the end of the game, after everything seemed fine, was a bit scary. We've kinda gone through it in some of the comments, but Rondo is fine.
"I was limping and Billy didn't want to see me limp, so he just carried
me," Rondo said. "I didn't slip or nothing. I'm fine. Ankles are fine.
"Maybe the tape was too tight," Rondo said. "It's just the tape job."
Sure, blame the training staff. While we're on the topic of Rajon Rondo, I need to share this link from Jackie MacMullan on Rondo. I never got a chance to mention it yesterday, but it's worth the read.
"I'm just telling you, Rajon is real cocky," said center Kendrick Perkins. "He's got swagger. The good kind."
That
wasn't always true. Two seasons ago, before the banners and the
plaudits and applause, when Rondo was in charge of a team that won just
24 games, he'd throw a no-look bullet and when it was dropped out of
bounds he'd roll his eyes in exasperation. If he set up a shooter for
the open jumper and it clanged off the rim, the shooter was subjected
to the Rondo stare, a look steeped in disdain and aggravation.
Rivers hauled his supposed floor leader into his office and asked him, "Do you know your teammates hate playing with you?"
Good stuff. And I'll quote Chuck from last night's live blog: Everyone laughed at us at the beginning of the season when we said Rajon Rondo is an elite point guard in the class of Deron Williams and Chris Paul. Who's laughing not?
And since the KG saga refuses to die, I'll just share this from Doc on KG
"There's a chance, he has a chance to play [last] night – but he's
not," Rivers said before Game 3. "We just hope that he gets better and,
if it happens, it would be great, obviously. Like I said before, I
don't think it's going to happen."
