Ramon Galloway to play for the Charlotte Hornets in Orlando Pro Summer League

.

The 2016 NBA Draft is now complete, which means teams across the association are getting ready for free agency and summer league. Since the draft ended last Thursday night, teams have worked tirelessly trying to figure out which players they want a part of their summer league team as they are looking for that diamond in the rough.

One of those players, who is getting another opportunity to showcase his talents this summer is former La Salle Explorer Ramon Galloway. If you remember, Galloway played with the Chicago Bulls last summer in the Las Vegas Summer League, where he averaged 10.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 25.3 minutes per game.

Then in the summer of 2013, Galloway played for the Denver Nuggets after coming off a magical career at La Salle, where he was able to propel the Explorers to the NCAA Tournament.

However, this summer, Galloway will be playing for the Charlotte Hornets in the Orlando Pro Summer League, which kicks off this Saturday (July 2). Galloway is a part of 13-man roster that also includes guards Aaron Harrison and Tim Quarterman.

For Galloway, this summer is the time for him to shine as unlike last summer with the Bulls, the Hornets will have their own D-League affiliate beginning play in the 2016-17 season in Greensboro, NC. If Galloway can perform well and impress the coaches then it’s no reason why he shouldn’t be in contention for one of those roster spots.

This past season, Galloway has been playing overseas with OpenJobMetis Varese and Fulgor Omegna. With Varese, Galloway averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 26.6 minutes per game. Galloway was on the same team as Brandon Davies, Maalik Wayns and Chris Wright.

After playing 16 games with Varese, Galloway then played for Fulgor Omegna in Italian Serie A2 Basket. With Fulgor Omegna, Galloway led the team in scoring, averaging 14.9 points, along with 5.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He also shot an outstanding 48.4 percent from the field and 32 percent from three-point range.

If Galloway can duplicate those types of shooting numbers in the summer league, then he’ll definitely be getting some NBA or NBA D-League looks. It’s only a matter of time till Galloway gets his shot in the NBA, but it starts this weekend in the Orlando Pro Summer League.
