Rampage Roundup (11/26/14)

“Rampage Roundup” is a new weekly feature at The Sunshine Skate to keep you in touch with your favorite future Panthers.

Summary:

The San Antonio Rampage continued to dominate over the weekend with two wins over the Texas Stars, solidifying their leadership of the West division and extending their 7-game win streak. The Rampage’s first game against the Stars this season resulted in a 7-1 blowout victory this past Friday. The depth of the team was on full display as ten players contributed at least one point during the night, with six players having a multiple point game. The powerplay was also effective, with three goals coming from the man advantage. On Sunday, the Rampage followed up with another victory, this time at home, shutting out the Stars 3-0. This time, only four players had multiple point games, including Mark Mancari, Connor Brickley, and Drew Shore, each with a goal and an assist.

Impact players:

Speaking of Shore, the center now leads the team with 12 assists, notching three of those during Friday night’s game.

Garrett Wilson had an exceptional Friday night too, with the first four point game of his career (2G, 2A) while left wing Connor Brickley experienced his first two goal game. Defenseman Alex Petrovic is on a bit of a point streak as well, with 6 points in 3 games (1G, 5A).

Dan Ellis continues to impress in goal, with his first shutout since November 2012. Over the course of this weekend’s two games, he faced a combined 58 shots, letting in only one goal and improving to 8-4 on the season (6–1 in November).

Meanwhile, Rocco Grimaldi returned to the Rampage after scoring his first NHL goal against the Predators on November 22nd.

With four injured players on the roster, the return of Quinton Howden from his upper body injury will be a welcome bonus for the Rampage this weekend.

Upcoming games:

Up next, the Rampage face the Oklahoma City Barons (8–4–2–2) on November 29th and the Iowa Wild (5–12–1–0) the following day at home. With the Wild sitting last place in the division, the Rampage have an opportunity to beat their franchise record for consecutive wins in a row.

For those of you with Fox Sports Southwest, the Rampage’s TV schedule has been released.
