-I’m not one to tout my own horn when it comes to being right, but didn’t I tell everyone that the 3-4 defense was going to be a disaster? The Bills are on pace to not only shatter team records for defensive futilty, but NFL records. They just don’t have the personnel for it and I said it when they decided to put slow bookends on the defensive line and crappy outside linebackers who don’t know how to rush the passer and cover. I’m glad to hear that the Bills are reverting back to more 4-3 looks, because it’s just not working-
-Look, I’ve been a bigger backer of Aaron Maybin then most fans and people in the media have been. However, after getting deactivated against the Ravens and more than likely he won’t be getting any playing time against the Chiefs, I think it’s time for the Bills to cut their losses. I mean if this guy can’t even get on the field for special teams assignments, then why are you wasting your time with him? I’m not saying this has to get done, as some fans have treated this guy as if he’s Willis McGahee, telling the city of Buffalo that their women suck. Frankly, my reasoning has to do with being sick and tired of people complaining and going nuts about the guy. After a while, it becomes a broken record and I just don’t feel like hearing it anymore. People got their way with Lynch and now people are looking for another guy to run out of town. If Maybin fits that bill, then let the guy go so I don’t have to hear about it anymore-
-So, I’ve gotten some emails telling me that I shouldn’t be so hard on Tom Modrak because he wasn’t the guy who decided to draft a number of the Bills first round picks that have been busts. It was Levy, it was Brandon, it was Dick Jauron, it was Ralph Wilson, it was Tom Golisano and OJ. I’m sorry, but I’m not buying that. About three years ago, Ralph Wilson came out and declared that Modrak would be more involved with the inner circle of the Bills. Plus, whose to say that this whole blamming on others is just away to defelect the pressure off Modrak. I mean, if Modrak gets fired next and the players under Buddy Nix’s drafting watch are termed busts, are we then going to say it was all on Modrak for those picks? Again, Modrak should have been fried multiple times and if he couldn’t get the players he wanted drafted, then he should have just quit his job. Then again, he probably wouldn’t be able to find a job-
-How annoying is this Ryan Fitzpatrick debate? When I say annoying, it’s just that there are so many ways to attack whether he can be the short-term or long-term solution as quarterback. We could easily go over the lists of quarterbacks who have come out of no where, from grocery ailes or the CFL, that have made it big in the NFL. So, we can’t we just embrace Fitz and say that he’s the guy? Is it the Derek Anderson effect? You know, dude had one pro bowl season and went completely in the toilet. Then, of course, you have the Bills record of finding quarterbacks and going through those “defining moments”. When Todd Collins rallied the team from 26 points in 1997 against the Colts. When Rob Johnson leaped from the three yard line and was able to score a touchdown against the Chiefs. When Drew Bledsoe throw for over 400 yards against the Vikings in his 2nd ever start for the team.
