The New York Rangers (29-11-4) defeated the Nashville Predators (26-16-4) by the score of 3-0, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports.
…you would have liked the Rangers to light up the young Lindberg, but when the team is struggling offensively you take what you can get. And of course when you’re having trouble scoring, riding your defense and All-World goaltender is always a good idea. This team’s ability to bounce back after a bad performance is incredible.
…just give Hank the Vezina now.
…at least John Mitchell hasn’t forgotten how to score. Two straight games with a goal.
…while he didn’t find the back of the net, Hagelin was the best position player on the ice. As soon as he gets the puck on his stick you can feel the anticipation in the crowd. Very similar to when a young Alex Kovalev used to don a blueshirt.
…Callahan finally gets the awarded empty net goal he should have received in the Winter Classic.
…that high stick call on Gaborik was almost as bad a missed call as the reversed fumble on Greg Jennings in the Giants/Green Bay game Sunday night.
…with the way Girardi/McD have been playing together (combined +6 tonight) can anyone justify putting Staal back on the top pair?
…thought getting off the schnide in Toronto the other night would get Boyle going, but this guy just can’t finish to save his life this season. Solid game tonight though.
…Richards is now pointless in the five games since being dumped by Olivia Munn.
…wonder if AA got dumped by Munn’s sister a week earlier because his pointless streak is at 12.
…you know your power play is struggling when you’re generating more offense on the penalty kill.
…off tomorrow then Penguins in town Thursday night.

QUOTES:
John Tortorella on Carl Hagelin…
“I put him on lines, and he ignites lines with his speed. It’s just a dog and a bone mentality as far as chasing down pucks. He played really good the other night on a different line, with Boyle. I bounce him all over the place. I thought all the lines contributed tonight. Step’s (Derek Stepan’s) line, for the majority of the night, played really well.”
Henrik Lundqvist…
“I think we’re more mature. We know how we have to play. So far every time we lose our focus on how we have to play, we correct it pretty quickly. That’s key if you want to stay in top position, you have to correct things right away. You can’t let it slide, and it’s a really good thing to have. I like the way guys prepare, and after a tough game we really want to come back with a strong performance. I like to see the way guys look at themselves and how they play, and try to improve and get better.”
Dan Girardi…
“I thought Nashville came out hard. They are a similar team to how we play and I thought that helped us to get back to our game. They’re a hard-nosed team and (they play) in your face. That’s how we play, so it was a quick transition for us.”
