The New York Rangers (34-13-5) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (23-24-6) by the score of 4-3 in overtime, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports.
…very strange game for the Rangers as they played a wide-open, almost sloppy, style the first two periods, but as is usually the case with this team, their resiliency finally payed off with a huge third period effort and they were rewarded with two points.
…no one on the Rangers needed that goal more than Richards. Also thought he looked real comfortable on the point on the power play.
…2g, 1a in the last five games for Boyle. Looks like someone hung out with Barbara Underhill during the All Star break.
…amazing what happens when you put traffic in front of the net and rip it from the point on the power play.
…secondary scoring starting to come alive for the Rangers as Dubinsky, Anisimov, Boyle and Stepan have all contributed recently.
…i’m usually a big Dominic Moore fan, but I lost a lot of respect for him with that cheap shot on Fedotenko.
…nice physical return to the line-up for Eminger who lead the team with five hits.
…for all the concern about the Rangers recent uneven play they’re 5-1-1 in their last seven.
…it’s never spectacular for Biron but he continues to pile up wins. With this victory, Torts should feel more comfortable splitting the two goaltenders this weekend.
…tonight’s atmosphere at MSG went from one of the worst of the season to an almost playoff-like intensity.
…i love Prust but he was wrong going after Hedman. Wasn’t done on purpose.
…nothing better than a Torts fist pump after an overtime winner.
…off tomorrow then Saturday matinee in Philly.
