Rangers Clinch Tie-Breaker Over Pens

Rick Carpiniello at the Rangers Review reports that with the Rangers win over Winnipeg last night they clinched the tie-breaker over the Penguins for the Division, Conference and Presidents’ Trophy.

Carpiniello adds that if the Rangers go 2-3 in their final five games for 109 points, Pittsburgh needs to get 10 points in their final six games to overtake them. If the Rangers go 3-2, the Penguins need to go 6-0.

…after it looked like an almost certainty that the Penguins were going to pass by the Rangers about a week ago, the Blueshirts have found their game at the right time and should hold on to win their first division championship since the 1993-94 season.

…still not a lock however with their five remaining games against the Canadiens, Bruins, Penguins, Flyers and Capitals.
