Rangers Forward Group Gets Facelift Before Heading To Canada

Couple of interesting new wrinkles to the offense. Given Buchnevich’s productive last few games, it’s no surprise he’s going to be given a lot of ice time coming up. The Rangers “default” top line of Kreider-Stepan-Nash reeks of AV leaning on some familiarity while the Rangers are away from MSG for two weeks.

I wouldn’t say Vesey moving down the lineup has anything to do with a drop in his overall play, but he’s going to be shuffled around quite a bit as he continues to figure out the rigors of the NHL schedule. Getting 13-15 minutes a night is only going to help him prevent burnout as we’re getting into the meat of the season. Plus with Miller and Hayes playing off each other wonderfully, it’ll open up a ton of ice for him on the weak side of the ice.

Defensively, McDonagh and Girardi are being kept together. Skjei appears like he’ll get a jump in ice time, moving to the right side alongside Staal. Holden moves back to his on-side with Klein.
