Jim Matheson at the Edmonton Journal reports that most NHL management types feel the Rangers have the inside track to get Justin Schultz, the best. U.S. college defenceman from U. of Wisconsin, who will likely go on the open market on July 1st as it doesn’t appear he wants to sign with the Anaheim Ducks, who drafted him…
“He could play with (Derek) Stepan and (Ryan) McDonagh, two former University of Wisconsin teammates,” said one NHL GM.
Last month Larry Brooks said that Schultz is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound defenseman much in the mold of McDonagh, but with a more developed offensive game.
…loving that young players are now deciding to leave their teams, because they want to sign with the Rangers. See Tim Erixon.
