Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that Rangers fans shouldn’t be surprised if the Rangers bring back Vinny Prospal (9g, 21a) as a bottom six forward. Prospal signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with Columbus in the off-season.
…while Prospal is a great team guy and is proving that he still has a little gas left in the tank, who would the Rangers be sitting? Boyle? Prust? Fedotenko? Mitchell?
…plus he’s been playing on a line with Rick Nash this season, so I would expect those offensive numbers to drop dramatically if he’s playing in the bottom six.
Brooks also mentions that the Rangers should inquire about another former player, Dominick Moore (3g, 11a) of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Moore is in the final year of his contract that pays him $1.1 million this season.
…i’m a big fan of Moore and he has a ton of playoff experience after back-to-back runs to the Conference Finals with Montreal and Tampa, but as I stated above, who is Moore replacing? He seems to be the exact player the Rangers already have in the bottom six. Pass.
