Jesse Spector tweeted yesterday that because the Rangers didn’t put anyone on waivers which is a pre-requisite for a buyout no one, including Chris Drury, will be bought out today.
Meanwhile, Steve Zipay reports that the Rangers did not take any of their key eligible RFAs (Dubinski, Callahan, Boyle, Anisimov and Sauer) to arbitration. This means they have not triggered a second buyout period in August.
…looks like the Rangers, as of now, are not planning to buy anyone out. Doesn’t really matter once the regular season starts as Drury will be placed on LTI and if Avery doesn’t step up his game him along with his salary will be down in Hartford.
…those moves won’t help the Rangers bring in players this offseason or re-sign RFAs but gives them room to make in-season moves.
