Rangers Prospects Prove Beneficial During Trade Deadline

Corey Masisak at NHL.com says the Rangers stockpile of talented prospects has been very beneficial during the trade deadline…

“Why have the Rangers been at the forefront of the discussions about a potential Rick Nash trade? Because the Rangers have built up a nice cache of young, impact talent to the point where dealing a couple or few quality young players and prospects won’t ‘mortgage the future,’ as the saying goes.”

Masisak adds that if Glen Sather decides to do a smaller deal he has the resources to make it happen while still keeping an eye on the team’s long-term future.

…as most of you know, I’m a big advocate of the Rangers developing their prospects to help the NHL club, but there also comes a time when they’ll need to trade some of that talent to bring in the possible missing piece for a Stanley Cup run. Sather has the assets, let’s hope he can put them to good use and find that missing piece.
