Scott Burnside at ESPN.com reports that Pavel Kubina’s connection to John Tortorella from his time in Tampa Bay suggests some interest from the Rangers.
Yesterday, the Lightning asked Kubina to waive his no-trade clause and submit a list of teams to which he would accept a trade.
To protect their own interests, Tampa has decied to shut down Kubina until the situation is resolved.
Pat Leonard at the Daily News says there is nothing imminent with the Rangers and Kubina.
Kubina, who is in the final year of his contract, is making $3.5 million this season and has 3g, 8a this year.
…could the Rangers use some size on the blueline? Sure. But why would they need to upgrade one of the better defenses in the league?
