Andrew Gross at Rangers Rants reports that Rangers players were furious with the Lightning’s Dominic Moore for his shoulder to the face of Ruslan Fedotenko last night, which probably the left the Blueshirts veteran left wing with a concussion (see video here)…
Brandon Prust…
“There’s no puck there. It looked like he was looking for him. There’s no puck and he got head contact. We’ll let the league decide on the rest.”
Brian Boyle…
“Yeah, we’re still pretty angry about that. It’s a very dirty, dirty play. We’ve talked about it enough. We’ve got to get away from that stuff.”
The players felt Moore was looking for payback after Fedotenko hit him along the boards.
Here’s Moore on the hit (via Tampa Tribune)…
“To be honest, I was coming into the slot and trying to make myself available for a shot. Their guy — and I didn’t know who it was until after — tried to come over and take me away. I was just trying to compete for body position, and I guess he wasn’t ready for that.”
The Rangers didn’t have an update on Fedotenko last night.
After the game reader Beth K. talked to trainer Jim Ramsey, who said Fedotenko was fine.
…Moore is a very hard nosed player, but not known for being dirty which is why I was so disappointed to see this. Assuming he’s going to be getting a call from Shanahan today.
…if Feds can’t go on Saturday, you’ve got to assume it’ll be Wolski taking his place in the line-up. Unless Torts has a sudden change of heart and they call-up Avery. Yeah, I didn’t think so either.
